Popular Hollywood actor Matthew Perry has died at the age of 54. The actor, who was most recognized for his role as Chandler Bing on Friends, was discovered dead on Saturday at his residence in the Los Angeles region.

Perry was discovered in the home’s jacuzzi, according to TMZ, and no drugs were discovered there.

Actor, comedian, and producer Matthew Langford Perry was born in America and raised in Canada. His portrayal as Chandler Bing on the NBC sitcom Friends (1994–2004) brought him widespread notoriety in the 1990s, and he was honoured with a Screen Actors Guild Award for it.

In 2018, Perry had a gastrointestinal perforation that required five months in the hospital. Perry almost passed away in the hospital due to an opioid overdose that caused his colon to explode. He was in a coma for two weeks and was on a colostomy bag for nine months. Perry’s family was informed by hospital staff that he only had a two per cent chance of surviving after being admitted. His breathing was done for him by ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) equipment. Perry proposed to Molly Hurwitz, a literary manager, in November 2020. In 2021, the engagement was cancelled.
