In a recent interview, Sam Heughan discussed a wide range of subjects with The Telegraph.
The 43-year-old actor from Outlander talked about the conclusion of his popular show, which will have one more season before it ends. He alluded to potential plans for his future during the process.
He went so far as to say whether he would consider trying out for the James Bond role once more, given that Daniel Craig famously beat him out for it.
Sam talked about his role in bringing about a change on set and the sultry sex scenes in Outlander in other parts of the conversation. In addition, he disclosed whether or not he was in a relationship.
Sam even went on to discuss the letter he signed last month from the organization Artists for Palestine UK. The actor had previously disclosed that he had “inadvertently” signed his identity to the correspondence. He went into further detail about his true feelings toward the Israeli-Palestinian issue.

“I was maybe naively calling for peace, which is what we all want, but, unfortunately, that situation is so complex, I can’t understand it all,” Sam admitted. “As an actor, you have a platform, but if you put your thoughts out there, you upset people, but you’re also d-mned if you don’t say anything.”

“It’s emotional. For me, the prospect’s hugely bittersweet. It feels like getting out of an institution. Outlander’s like a family, it literally defines who I am,” Sam reflected. “I’m ready for new challenges, but also nervous about what it’s like in the real world,” he says.
Furthermore, he said He had “no idea” how the show will end. But after the most recent season, he claimed that the program “hadn’t quite got there” to conclude. “So now we have the problem of pushing the writers to do something that’s hopefully satisfying for the audience, but also exciting,” he added.
Sam On Future Plans
“I’m a workaholic, but I have to be discerning. Whatever I do next, I have to feel really passionate about,” Sam said about his plans after Outlander. He teased possibly considering getting into directing. He also talked about auditioning to play James Bond again.
After Daniel Craig won the part, Sam declared, “I’ll throw my hat in the ring” in an attempt to reprise the legendary spy. “I’m good at action, I’d make a great Bond, and I have a lot of emotional intelligence.”

Intimacy coordinators have become more common on sets, and Sam noted that “the industry’s completely changed since Outlander started,” two developments he helped introduce to his show. It’s startling how graphic our program and others like Game of Thrones were at the time, leaving little opportunity for creativity. We were merely supposed to strip off and go to work since we were eager, young performers.”
He went on, “There were times when we were pushed too far, but Caitríona and I formed a bond and trusted each other.” This involves a sequence in which his character is viciously raped. Sam remarked, “That really didn’t sit well.” In earlier remarks, he said that the incident in question “betrayed his trust.”
“Now that there is an intimacy coordinator, everyone is aware of the boundaries, just like in a rugby or football match.” The reason it’s been so beneficial and liberating is because I didn’t want upcoming performers to experience what we had. The scenes are now explicit but not overtly sexual.
Sam On His Love Life
Sam exposed falsehoods about his life that are posted online and passed off as “facts.” There are a lot of absurd claims that are wholly untrue, such “It seems like I have a daughter.” News to me, he joked, adding that his devotion to Outlander prevents him from being in a relationship right now.
It consumes all of your time and has crazy hours. I have witnessed how difficult it is for Caitríona to maintain the lovely family she has created for herself and guards. I’d like a cat, but I’m too afraid of them to take care of one. Maybe one day,” he remarked.
